Why join band and orchestra?
If you are on the fence about participating in band or orchestra we highly recommend giving it a try because there are so many great benefits! It’s been proven that students who are involved in music get higher grades, score higher in math, have higher test scores and have higher graduation rates. Playing a musical instrument has been known to strengthen hand-eye coordination, enhance language capabilities and make students better problem-solvers. Being a part of music helps children grow in self-esteem, build essential skills and prepare for bright futures.
What does it take to become a successful musician?
Come to all lessons and rehearsals
Listen carefully to your teacher
Do your best to follow instructions
Practice every week, 4-5 different days
Practice the way your teacher tells you to practice
Always have your instrument and materials for lessons and rehearsals
Most importantly, have patience, a positive attitude, and stick with it! Learning to play an instrument well takes time and lots of practice. Sometimes it’ll be frustrating, but if you keep working at it, you’ll get it and it’ll be very rewarding
How do lessons & concerts work?

Weekly 20-minute small group lesson during the school day

Weekly 30-minute ensemble rehearsal during the school day

Lessons and ensembles are on the same day so you will only bring your instrument once per week

One concert in January and one concert in May
